At Gallerie, we’re proud to be a design destination trusted by some of Melbourne’s leading builders and homeowners. The real heart of our business is the people behind the scenes. And this month, we’re celebrating someone very special.
Maddy, one of our longest-standing team members, marks an incredible milestone: 10 years at Gallerie. From her early days on reception to becoming a respected Interior Designer in Melbourne, studio designer, manager and mentor, Maddy’s journey reflects the values that define Gallerie: creativity, approachability and unwavering commitment to client service.
We sat down with Maddy and our Director, Daniel, to reflect on her time at Gallerie, the evolution of our studio, and what makes Maddy such an unforgettable part of our team.
Q&A with Daniel; Gallerie Director
Do you remember Maddy’s first day?
Absolutely. She started on reception — eager and determined to be on the studio floor working with clients.
What has changed the most about Maddy over the last 10 years?
She started fresh out of TAFE, just off her P plates, and now she’s a Manager, Mentor, Mother and Homeowner. Watching her grow has been something pretty special, not just in her career, but in her confidence and leadership.
What hasn’t changed at all?
Her eye rolls… and her great attitude!
Any unforgettable Maddy moments you still talk about?
She has a talent for butchering a staff birthday cake like no one else!!
How has Maddy shaped the culture and creative direction of Gallerie?
Her work ethic, attention to detail and approachability set a high standard.
She also played a huge role in designing the layout and flow of both our Adelaide and Bendigo studios, shaping how we deliver our colour consultation experiences today.
Her influence helped evolve Port Melbourne into the first-class design studio it is now.
One word the team would use to describe her?
Supportive.
One word I’d use?
Do-a. (Because she gets things done.)
Q&A with Maddy; Gallerie Manager

Who was Maddy in 2015?
I’d just finished my Diploma in Inter
ior Design and was working casually as a host in our little Sunshine showroom. When Gallerie Port Melbourne opened, I started full-time on reception; my first proper job! I was new to the industry, young and still finding my voice. I was definitely quieter around the office than I am today.
Trend you wish never existed?
The grey era. When everything — inside and out — was grey. No personality, no warmth!
All-time favourite colour combo?
This one’s tough because trends shift, and we evolve with them. But right now I’m leaning back into earthy tones — warm off-whites, browns and soft greens. They just feel right.
3 words to describe working at Gallerie?
Vibrant. Inspirational. Fun.
Coffee order that’s powered you through the years?
I’m not big on real coffee — but during lockdowns, Ash and I were definitely guilty of too many Uber coffee orders to keep us going!
What’s next on your Gallerie to-do list?
To keep contributing to the best possible service for our clients, help grow what we offer, keep learning, and be part of a workplace where people genuinely enjoy showing up each day.
Maddy’s story is a reminder that great design isn't just about aesthetics, it’s about people. Her presence has helped shape Gallerie into the vibrant, warm and professional space it is today.
Whether you're building a new home or renovating, our expert team of Interior Designers in Melbourne, led by passionate professionals like Maddy, are here to make your colour selection journey a confident, exciting and enjoyable experience.
Congratulations Maddy, on 10 remarkable years!
